Hello, I’m Claire.  I am a licensed Acupuncturist and Naturopath.  Having graduated from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London,  I spent many years treating in community multi-bed clinics and private practices throughout London.

Today I divide my time between practices in Shepton Mallet, Wells, and Neal's Yard Remedies in Clifton, Bristol.

I came to acuupuncture through my own physical health challenges, which I did not believe Western medicine alone could fully resolve. I successfully overcame hypothyroidism and debilitating sciatica with the help of both western medicine and a combination of acupuncture and naturopathy.

But it was my subsequent journey to being a mother, which galvanized my belief in Chinese Medicine.  Having suffered heart breaking infertility for a number of years, I sought the help of an acupuncturist and became pregnant after 6 months, only to lose the baby.  There followed 18 months of soul-destroying miscarriages, invasive medical investigations, IUI and IVF treatments.  Acupuncture helped me navigate my way through the turmoil, off-setting the numerous physical side effects of the drugs, boosting my energy to continue but most importantly restoring emotional balance. Both types of medicine had their place in my healing.

In this way, I work together with my patients to thoughtfully tailor treatment to the individual, enabling them to regain control of their own health.  I use Traditional Chinese Medicine theory in a contemporary way, often working alongside conventional western medicine.

Chinese medicine is by nature a holistic therapy that does not focus on diseases but looks instead at the individual.  Each patient is different.   It seeks to relieve symptoms by addressing the root cause of disease and discomfort.  It encourages the body to harness its own healing mechanisms to restore balance mentally, physically and emotionally.  I aim to give you that power.
